About Us
WHY ARE WE
DOING THIS?
The most important thing about writing this book:
This series of stories is my legacy to my wife,
children, and grandchildren. I have learned that the material things in life are
not the lasting things that you pass to your family. Money is quickly spent,
possessions quickly squandered, and all that we really are, our triumphs and
tragedies, is quickly forgotten. It is the experiences, the stories, and the
journey (especially the ways that you handle the rough bits) that you leave
behind which truly last. Thann, Gimble, and Fenris are all the good pieces of me
that I hope they will always hold in their hearts. They represent the
intellectual, emotional, and spiritual sides of my life.
I have loved living in this world that I created.
I’m going to miss it; so much so, that I plan on writing more. A lot of research
has gone into each of these books, everything from the names of peoples, places,
devices…you name it. I hope you take time to find out where some of these come
from. More importantly, I hope you enjoy the adventures of Thann, Gimble, and
their friends as they trek through the mountain.
About the Authors:
The Sons of Maeve Trilogy are the first books written by Dave and Rose Cox. Influenced
by the fictional works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, they began this odyssey over
twenty-seven years ago as college sweethearts, with high hopes of adding their
voices to the literary community. Their love for Celtic history and mythology
inspired a move to Great Britain in the 1990’s, where they steeped themselves in
this rich and ancient culture. The combination of these passions culminated in
these unique and original stories. While this series is written for young adult
readers, it has been read and enjoyed by all ages. Carefully researched and
excellently constructed, the story presents a rich tapestry steeped in tradition
and mythology.
The Sons of Maeve: Aarrawn's Labyrinth takes off where the last one
ended. After spending some time with book one, we realized through some very
appreciated feedback, that it needed to be republished with some minor
corrections. At the same time, we felt that this second book (fourth story)
needed some added character depth and setting dimensionality. I think we
successfully fused these elements with an excellent and compelling story that is
even more fast-paced and action packed than the first. While the Labyrinth can
be read as a stand alone (especially with the background information available
on this website), the Trilogy offers the full experience,
As always, we enjoy hearing from our readers (and we give them credit for
their input in our forewords). Please feel free to add your voice to theirs. It
is, after all a journey, for all of us. Lastly, as the saga continues, we are
always looking for individuals (and schools) willing to read and critique the
raw manuscripts. We have had a lot of success pushing the storyline envelop that
way. It also gives us the unique ability to interact with our readers as part of
the process. If you would like to participate in a future reading, contact us on
the feedback page.
